"Building a career with improved Soft skills - Acquire the skills you
need to get the new job or promotion you want, even when competition
is tough - Part II"

Earlier this year SIPA hosted a joint event with NetIP on acquiring
soft skills. The event was a huge success.

We have been approached by many members requesting a more interactive
session with the distinguished speakers. We have created a round
table event where our speakers will be able to be more interactive
with delegates and be able to present personal problems and
experiences in order to gain practical help and advice. It will
finish with a presentation from each group outlining their "learns"
from this session.

As someone once said, "no man is an island" and this is truer now
than ever before. In today's complex world, the ability to interact
and work well with others, the capacity to clearly communicate ideas,
the skill to sell an idea or concept and the talent to negotiate a
desired outcome are all as important as pure technical ability.
These factors are critical when dealing up, down and sideways in a
organizations involved with complex technologies or bodies of
knowledge, where one person can not possibly know or do everything.
Being a successful leader, manager or entrepreneur is predicated on a
competency in these areas.

This discussions will discuss intimately about some of these new-
millennium skills that are vital for finding a new job, retaining an
existing job and enhancing a career or business venture as well as
dealing with ambiguity and managing conflict. Suggestions, drawn for
real-life experiences by the speaker, will be offered on how to
improve these skills.
