A few months ago, I remember reading two separate articles on what seemed
like a "new requirement" for CEOs / COOs, when being recruited, specifically
by start-ups. Among other things, the articles said that preference was
given to those senior-level managers who possessed "failure experience"
(alongwith successes, of course), either at a strategic-level and/or with
products. Apparently, having experienced such failed projects and their
response to the same, could help indicate their (future) leadership
abilities. In fact, many VCs backing these start-ups, also indicated
similar preferences. Unfortunately, I cannot recollect the date nor the
publication in which these articles appeared. I was wondering if anybody,
who may have come across similar articles, would send me the publication
details, etc. I would also be interested in any published case studies,
along similar lines.
Thanks.
