Hi There,
Folks, this one is a serious issue. Over the weekend, i will inform
you'll of two wonderful events happening in the Ventcap group, in the
next 2-3 months. But before that I must do some policing, which i
absolutely hate. Apparently the Ventcap e-mail list has been under
abuse recently. Although the Ventcap is an unmoderated list, please,
please be sensitive to the time and patience of other subscribers.
So here are the guidelines, for sending e-mail to the Ventcap group:
(a) It should in some way relate to the VC world. Don't get me wrong,
not every piece of mail has to be a serious one. Humour is most
appreciated, but what David Letterman said the night before, is
hardly Ventcap news. Yes, David Letterman launching a VC fund, for the
yellow taxis of New York, would definitely be Ventcap news.
(b) In case you'll are resubmitting articles, please make sure you'll
put in the source (tip follow Tushar, he always indicates source).
This helps us prevent copyright and legal issues. Possible exception,
I heard a rumour from the priest in Fremont temple, that Madhuri Dixit
is to marry a prominent Indian VC in the Silicon Valley, note in this
case the priest's name does not have to be disclosed(ok ok I am
kidding, but you'll get the point)
(c) Please DO NOT DO WHAT SOMEONE HAS DONE THIS MORNING, I.E.
somebody tried to subscribe [email protected] to cnet. It turned out to
be a bad idea. And the whole ventcap@sipa
is flooded with 20 emails to innocent bystanders!
We dont want people to leave the SIG from this untoward incident.
Someone may have done with a good intention and must have backfired
too.
(d) Finally when policing fellow members, remember the maxim that
kindness is the best way to kill. We can put a strong point across
politely, after all, other than me, most of us are respected
professionals in our field.
Also job and employment offers are welcome if related to start-up's ,
since they are an offshoot of the VC activity.
Sincerely,
Vivek Kumar
