The Final 12

All right folks,

The day of reckoning is here. I have received from Scott at Onset, the
final listing of the 12 folks who have been selected for the
One-on-One with Onset Ventures, based on the submission of the Exec
Summary.

I have begun to contact the folks directly and by mid day tomorrow all
12 should have been contacted. In case you'll don't hear back, that
means that Onset has declined interest in those plans.

As a Caveat and in respecting the time of the people involved in this,
SIPA and Ventcap and certainly me, will not be entertaining calls as
to why exec summaries were not considered (especially since the plans
were reviewed and decided by Onset and not my the folks in SIPA)

Also in lieu of the time contraints under which the VC community
functions, we will not encourage direct and incessant telephonic calls
to ONSET regarding this matter.

Although I am not a VC all I can say is at times plans are rejected,
not because they are a reflection of the underlying business potential
or the personality of the entrepreneur, but more due to:

a) Type of industry which a VC covers

b) Geographoical area

c) Clarity of communication

etc.

So remeber all you brave folks, that even folks like Sabeer Bhatia,
had to go through many rejections before they hit paydirt .

And for the 12 selected, our best wishes are with you'll and may the
best ideas and plans win.

Also the 12 selected, keep in mind that there are simultaneous slots
allocated to two folks at a time (each getting a distinct VC partner),
so if you'll see a fellow SIPA member at a time allocated to you'll,
it is because that is how it was meant to be and each will get the
undivided attention of a distinct VC partner.

Additionally all those folks who don't get funded, take heart, since
as mentioned in an earlier e-mail, another one-one-one is coming up
almost immediately.

Finally a parting thought on all those folks who don't make it,
remeber the show must go on and taking a terminology from my tennis
days, you can either play to win, or play not to loose (big difference
between the two)

Take heart, be positive and go for it all the time, every time.

Later,

Vivek "Now I Can Take A Break For A While" Kumar
