Rafiq Dossani is a Senior Research Scholar and Executive Director of the South Asia Program at the Asia-Pacific Research Center at Stanford University. He has done policy research on nuclear security, energy, the IT industry, offshoring, venture capital and telecommunications in India, and on Asian entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley. His most recent books are The Prospects for Peace in South Asia, published in March 2005 by Stanford University Press (reissued in India by Orient Longman in January 2006) and  Telecommunications Reform in India published by Greenwood (May 2002), reissued in October 2002 in India by Viva Books.  He currently directs a project funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to study the globalization of business processes.    He also writes on the IT industry, venture capital, telecommunications reform, higher education, rural access to information and communication technologies in developing countries and Asian entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley.  Other work experience: From 1992-1995, Dr. Dossani was CEO of Jardine Fleming India Securities, a subsidiary of the global investment bank, Jardine Fleming.  From 1995-1998, he was a senior vice president and head of the bank’s San Francisco operations.  He has held board positions on Specsoft (a design services firm), EFM (an enterprise software firm specializing in educational services) and Development Credit Bank (an Indian retail bank).
